In addition to places of interest in Paro, Thimphu and Punkha, another fascinating destination is the sacred valley of Bumtang. The picturesque drive to Bumtang takes you through regions profuse in flora and fauna, several magnificent mountain passes and places of great historic sights and ancient palaces of the ruling importance. The Tongsa Dzong is a prime example, it is by far the largest Dzong in the country and was in olden times the seats of the dominant power in feudal Bhutan. Considered the most sacred valley, Bumtang as a rich area of religious-Historical sites and ancient palaces of ruling family of the valley. The cultural trip to Bumtang also includes a 3 day walking tour to the sanctified spot where Guru Padhmasambhawa meditated. He was the great saint who converted the Bhutanese from pagan worshipers to peace loving Buddhist.
Day 01 Kathmandu - Thimpu
Take a panoramic flight from Kathmandu to Paro catching glimpses temples and holy places. Overnight at Bhumanthang.
Day 05 Bhumanthang : Full day sightseeing
Morning drive to Mebartsho - the Burning Lake. This gorge is holy site and pilgrimage where Guru Rimpoche hid religious treasures later discovered by Terton Pema Lingpa. We also visit the Swiss Farm where you can buy excellent local made cheese. After lunch we visit Jakar Dzong - Castle of the White Bird. Built in 1549 this Dzong houses the administrative center of Bhumanthang. Visit Kuirjey Lhakang, the most sacred monastery of Bhumanthang. Overnight at Bhumanthnag.
Day 06 Bhumanthang -Thimpu ( 267 Kms./8 hrs. approx.)
Early morning drive to Thimpu via Tongsa and Wangdiphodrang. Overnight at hotel.
Day 07 Thimpu - Paro (65 Kms./2 hrs.)
Morning drive to Paro. We drive through the Paro Valley for a sightseeing tour of the Drukgyel Dzong, National Museum and the Kyichu Lhakhang. The view of the Chomolhari Mountain is spectacular most of the way. After Lunch we drive to Sartsham Chorten and take a horse ride up hill for 2 hours to Taktsang Cafeteria. After refreshments and a short trek we reach the vantage point for a eye level view of the Taktsang Lhakhang , "The Tigers Nest". We retrace our steps for our return to Paro. Over night at hotel in Paro.
Day 08 Paro - Kathmandu
Drive to the airport for your flight to Kathmandu. Arrive Kathmandu and Transfer to Hotel.

The national airline of Bhutan Druk Air operates flights from Calcutta, Delhi, Dacca and Bangkok. It is also possible to enter and exit Bhutan by overland transportation, stopping enroute at Sikkim & Darjeeling (India).
